THE VILLAGE SCHOOL by RON PERRY

Based on the Fairacre series of books by Miss Read, the action focuses on the Primary School in the village of Fairacre, and Miss Read, the Headmistress. Set in the mid-1950s, this nostalgic drama looks at life in a small village. Dealing with the daily complaints of school cleaner and village gossip Mrs Pringle, the steadying hand of caretaker Mr Willet and the failing health of teaching colleague Miss Clare, Miss Read steers a calming course at the school - the heart of the village.
With some very colourful characters, lively school children and the overhanging threat of school closure, the themes contained are still ones we face today. Be prepared for an evening of both comedy and pathos as you become spectators to a snapshot in the school year.
Following the successes of 'Return to Thrush Green' and 'Lark on the Wing', Fordingbridge Players and Redlynch Players join forces once again to bring you this exciting piece of new theatre.

The Good Life

The Good Life

Geraldine
When Tom and Barbara Good decide to exchange the pressures of the rat race for an alternative, more sustainable way of living, they set about turning their suburban home in Surbiton into a model of self-sufficiency. They grow their own fruit and veg, keep livestock in the garden, make their own clothes, and even generate their own electricity from manure.
It's the good life for them - but not for Margo and Jerry Leadbetter, who live next door, and are desperately trying to maintain the Surbiton status quo.
Jeremy Sams' 2021 stage play, based on the hugely popular sitcom by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey, reunites the well-loved characters (not forgetting Geraldine the goat) as they get themselves into and out of scrapes - some old, some new, all hilarious.
Tapping into issues that resonate now more than ever, The Good Life is a witty reimagining of a television classic, with a wellyful of laughs.
Tickets will go on sale from late summer / early autumn but save the date, this one is going to be a sell out!

This is an amateur production by kind arrangement with Nick Hern Books.
