THE VILLAGE SCHOOL by RON PERRY

Based on the Fairacre series of books by Miss Read, the action focuses on the Primary School in the village of Fairacre, and Miss Read, the Headmistress. Set in the mid-1950s, this nostalgic drama looks at life in a small village. Dealing with the daily complaints of school cleaner and village gossip Mrs Pringle, the steadying hand of caretaker Mr Willet and the failing health of teaching colleague Miss Clare, Miss Read steers a calming course at the school - the heart of the village.
With some very colourful characters, lively school children and the overhanging threat of school closure, the themes contained are still ones we face today. Be prepared for an evening of both comedy and pathos as you become spectators to a snapshot in the school year.
Following the successes of 'Return to Thrush Green' and 'Lark on the Wing', Fordingbridge Players and Redlynch Players join forces once again to bring you this exciting piece of new theatre.
